EPOS scholarship option for IUSD Double Degree program

The DAAD offers a limited number of full scholarships for students from a wide range of countries (see DAC-List) studying in the Double Degree Program.

The scholarships are provided through the EPOS program and cover the entire duration of the course (including travel costs to both countries). EPOS scholarships are only available for the Double Degree Program, studying the first year in  Stuttgart, and second year Cairo.

major requirements:

  • Applying for the EPOS scholarship requires at least two years of  program related professional working experience after your bachelor degree.
  • You need to check your eligibility individually here.

EPOS application

If you would like to apply for the EPOS scholarship, you would have to submit your academic application and documents at BOTH universities through the online portals AND submit the EPOS application and documents until the indicated deadline to the epos email address: epos[at]iusd.uni-stuttgart.de, attaching  the following separate documents:

  • Signed DAAD application form with current date
  • Personally signed CV (please use the sample europass form at http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/) with current date
  • Personally signed Letter of Motivation (with reference to current occupation and choice of postgraduate programme(s), two pages maximum) with current date.
    IMPORTANT: When applying for more than one postgraduate course (maximum 3 courses), you have to submit one motivation letter explaining why you are applying for these specific courses and why you chose that priority.
  • Letter of recommendation from your current employer; the letter must have letterhead, a signature and official stamp and must be of current date (not in a sealed envelope)
  • Certificate(s) of Employment from the employer(s) that proof a minimum of two years of relevant working experience (after the bachelor degree) ideally at the time of application and if possible, a guarantee of re-employment from your current employer upon returning home. Please note: Certificate(s) of employment have to contain the exact period of employment (by date / day) and the date of issuing.
  • Proof of Language Skills:
    o English – IELTS or TOEFL (Note: The institutional TOEFL is not accepted)
  • Copies of Academic Degrees (certified translation if necessary)
  • Copies of Academic Transcripts, incl. grading-scale (certified translation if necessary)
  • Applicants from the People’s Republic of China are asked to submit an APS Certificate with their application documents.

IMPORTANT:
The complete application has to be submitted in English to be considered.
Incomplete applications cannot be considered.
If applying to more than one course, please list courses in order of priority in the DAAD application forms and do not change these priorities in the respective application.
When applying for more than one postgraduate course (maximum 3 courses), you have to submit one motivation letter explaining why you are applying for these specific courses and why you chose that priority.

 

Application and Selection Procedure for the EPOS scholarship:
Step 1: You send your complete application directly to : epos(at)iusd.uni-stuttgart.de.
Step 2: The joint selection committee of IUSD Ain Shams University and IUSD University Stuttgart suggests potential candidates to the DAAD for the EPOS scholarship.
Step 3: The suggested candidates will be contacted by DAAD to upload their complete application to the DAAD Portal.
Step 4: The selection process will be finalized, and the suggested candidates will be informed accordingly.

!!! Make sure that you have a copy of each document of your application ready, as those documents (as PDF files) have to be uploaded to the DAAD Portal in case you are suggested for a DAAD scholarship!

IMPORTANT:

Additional to the academic application at both Universities and the EPOS scholarship application documents, send us the application form "EPOS-funded Double Degree" download application form by email to epos(at)iusd.uni-stuttgart.de

Please note: You need both registration numbers of both universities to fill out the form. This document is NOT the application for the scholarship. It is just to identify your applications in the two different systems of Ain Shams University and University of Stuttgart.

Erasmus+ Student Exchange

IUSD Students enrolled at University of Stuttgart and Ain Shams University have the opportunity to benefit from Erasmus+ programme to travel for a One-Semester Exchange at the other university during their third semester. Students will be offered travel allowance and monthly stipend for a period up to 6 months. For more information, please contact IUSD office

Scholarships for IUSD Stuttgart or IUSD Cairo

Students from previous intakes have received scholarships from different donors. There are various individual scholarship possibilities available through German and international institutions as well as institutions in the home countries of applicants.

Study fees

Please note: University Stuttgart will raise study fees for non EU students. EPOS scholarship holders will be exempted from this!

Study fees

@ University of Stuttgart, After the decision of the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts BW in may 2017, University of Stuttgart has to raise study fees for non EU members. The University will charge non EU students with 1500 Euro per semester. Please find detailed information about the regulations and exemptions on the official website of the ministry.

While University Stuttgart will raise study fees for non EU students, EPOS scholarship holders will be exempted from this.

@ Ain Shams University, The Study fees of IUSD-Cairo are set at 5500 Euros for each academic year.*

These Fees incl. administration fees, course offerings, access to lab equipment, computer systems & libraries, and facility upkeep.

* The fees sums are subject to Annual Revision through the IUSD-ASU steering committee board.

Study fees for Ain Shams University for the EPOS scholarship holders are covered by DAAD.

Each student has to pay University of Stuttgart fees at the beginning of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th semester and Ain Shams University fees at the beginning of the 1st and 2nd year.

Registration fees

Registration fees for the University of Stuttgart are about 170 € each semester (will be indicated by administration, incl. administration, library, etc.).  

Excursion fees

Excursion fees during your time at USTUTT and ASU are approximately 250€ each semester. The fees cover mandatory field trips, conference participation, transport, accommodation, and entrance fees.

For the academic year 2019-2020, The Study fees of IUSD-Cairo are set at 5000 Euros for each academic year*. 

For the academic year 2020-2021, The Study fees of IUSD-Cairo are set at 5000 Euros for each academic year**.

These Fees incl. administration fees, course offerings, access to lab equipment, computer systems & libraries, and facility upkeep.

Each student has the choice to either pay the Study fees at the beginning of the 1st and 2nd academic year in full or pay half the fees of  an academic year at beginning of each of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th semesters.

* The fees sums are subject to Annual Revision through the IUSD-ASU steering committee board.

** Applicable only for the tenth intake of the IUSD programme starting study in the Winter of 2020.

2. For Egyptian students:

The Study fees of IUSD-Cairo for Egyptian students are calculated based on the number of Credit Hours (CH) the student register in the beginning of each semester.
For the academic year 2019-2020, the value of one CH is set to 950 EGP.*
For the academic year 2020-2021, the value of one CH is set to 1054 EGP.**
These fees cover administration fees, course offerings, access to lab equipment, computer systems & libraries, and facility upkeep.
* The value of the CH is subjected to Annual Revision through the IUSD-ASU steering committee board
The average fees per semester is 14,000-15,000 EGP (varies based on the number of CH for each semester) 
** Applicable only for the tenth intake of the IUSD programme starting study in the Winter of 2020.

Excursion fees

Excursion fees during your time at ASU are approximately 250€ each semester. The fees cover mandatory field trips, conference participation, transport, accommodation, and entrance fees.

Registration fees
Registration fees for the University of Stuttgart are presently 166,50€ each semester. (Incl. administration, library, language courses, etc.). Each student has to pay University of Stuttgart fees at the beginning of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th semester.

Excursion fees during your time at USTUTT are approximately 250€ each semester. The fees cover mandatory field trips, conference participation, transport, accommodation, and entrance fees.
